The core programming at 49 Farms is modeled after our mentors at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center, who showed us the benefits of focusing on two distinct but complementary approaches to our work. First are our four site-based programs, utilizing the 49 Square Miles of San Francisco to conduct research, education and demonstration focused on urban agriculture. Next, our three community-centered programs focus on establishing and promoting relationships within the dynamic urban agriculture community.

Site-based Programs

  • Urban Permaculture Program
  • Habitat & Biodiversity Program
  • Volunteer Program
  • Arts Program

Community-centered Programs

  • Project Partners Program
  • Urban Agriculture Program
  • San Francisco Garden Party
